A power outage made the first day back to school in Prescott even more of a hassle.
Just after 4:00am this morning the Town of Prescott lost all power. With power down parents were left wondering whether their children’s summer vacations would suddenly be extended. Fortunately before 9:00am Wellington Elementary School, St. Mark’s Catholic School and South Grenville District High School had all announced that classes would be taking place as planned.
The Chief Financial Officer with Rideau-St. Lawrence Distribution Peter Soules says the outage was attended to by Hydro One technicians because of where it happened on the circuit. The cause of the outage is believed to be a tree that fell across power lines on Concession Road 2 between Rocky Road and Blue Church Road. Power was back city wide just after 10:30am.
Soules adds that Rideau-St. Lawrence only handle repairs within the town limits, any problems that happen outside the town must be attended to by Hydro One.
