Changing of the guard at Henderson Johnston Fournier

Two familiar, long tenured faces will be absent from the Brockville legal scene moving forward.

Henderson Johnston Fournier Barristers and Solicitors has announced that name partners Neville C. Johnston and Paul. J Fournier will both be retiring from active legal practice by the end of 2017. Both men were called to the bar in 1966, marking their 50th anniversaries practicing law last year.

Johnston joined Henderson Johnston Fournier in early 1966 before becoming a partner in 1969. He is a member of the Bar of New York State and, therefore, licensed to appear in all courts in the State of New York. His principal areas of specialisation were civil litigation, real estate and wills and estates. Fournier joined the firm in 1969 and was named partner the same year. Near the end of his career he focused his efforts on corporations, commercial transactions, real estate and wills and trusts.

Leading the firm into the future after Johnston and Fournier retire will be Trea B. Truck, a member of both the State Bar of Texas and the Law Society of Upper Canada. She joined the firm in 2012 and became a Managing Partner in 2016. Both retirees say they know the company is being left in good hands.

Changes in leadership are nothing new for Leeds and Grenville’s oldest law firm. Since opening their doors in 1886 there have been many different names on the door, including former MP for Leeds and one of the fathers of the Canadian Flag John Ross Matheson. The firm has been using its current name is 1995.
