Kemptville man facing child pornography charges

A Kemptville man is facing charges after airport security found graphic images of children on his phone.

According to police the man was trying to fly to California on Tuesday when a secondary search by Ottawa Homeland Security Investigations and Customs Border Protection revealed images on his phone they believed to be child pornography. He was denied entry to the United States and airport security called Ottawa Police in on the matter.

A press release from Ottawa Police Services said an investigation by their Child Exploitation Unit confirmed the images and videos met the Criminal Code of Canada’s definition of child porn. A warrant is being prepared that will allow police to further investigate the seized phone. The man has been charged with possession of child pornography and attempting to export child pornography.

The accused is set to appear in court today.
