Charges laid after car collision in Prescott

Charges have been laid after a car crash in Prescott.

The Grenville County OPP say on August 19th at around 2:30am their officers arrived at a collision scene at King Street West. A Hyundai Elantra had struck an unoccupied, parked vehicle. The driver of the Elantra was a male in his twenties from Edwardsburgh Township. After investigating police determined the accused had been driving while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the OPP the accused was charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired and driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood. He is scheduled to face the charges in September at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.

The OPP are using this incident as a chance to remind the public that impaired driving can have serious consequences like; an immediate 90 day license suspension, an immediate seven day vehicle impounding, fines and fees, mandatory education programs, ignition interlock conditions, minimum one year license suspension, a criminal record and insurance increases.
Grenville County OPP say they will continue conducting RIDE checks throughout the county at different times and locations.
