Stunt driving charges laid against driver with passenger in the trunk

Two teenagers are facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act after an OPP traffic stop.

According to the OPP at the Leeds and 1000 Island detachment they stopped a speeding vehicle heading west on Highway 401 shortly before 2:00am on August 13th. The vehicle was travelling 57 kilometers over the speed limit. As a result of the officer’s investigation a 17-year-old from Kitchener had his vehicle towed and impounded for 7 days. He is also being charged with stunt driving.

The OPP say the investigation also revealed a sixth passenger lying down in the car’s locked trunk. The 17-year-old trunk passenger is facing a seatbelt charge under the Highway Traffic Act.
