Brockville athlete helps Ontario take top of podium

The 2017 Canada Summer Games are finished and some local talent helped Ontario take the top of the podium.

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville was represented at the games by Nick Everett. Everett rowed in Quadruple Sculls and Eight with Coxswain, helping Ontario take home gold in both events. Ontario athletes are bringing 87 gold, 65 silver and 60 bronze medals back from the games for a total of 212. British Columbia had the second highest medal total with 146 and Quebec came third with 138.

Some of Ontario’s standout athletes included; Graysen Bernard who won 10 medals in various swimming events including three golds, Karson Kowalchuk who broke the 100m Canada Game’s record and Hanna Henderson, who won 11 medals in various swimming events and set a new record for medals by an individual at the Canada Games.
