At last night’s council meeting, North Grenville Mayor David Gordon addressed the question of hosting Syrian refugees on Kemptville Campus.
We are within the preferred distance to Toronto but Kemptville Campus can only host 260 evacuees. The Province is looking for facilities that can accommodate 500 to 3,000 people.
The Mayor said the Province is aware of all its available facilities and will make accommodations for 10,000 of the 25,000 expected refugees. No plans are in place for Kemptville to host evacuees at this time.
