One RIDE check leads to numerous charges

The OPP are continuing their investigations after a pair of arrests at one RIDE check.

Leeds County OPP says they were conducting a RIDE check on July 29th when they arrested two men during different stops. Around 11:00pm a 21-year-old man going through the checkpoint grabbed the attention of officers. After an investigation police say the man was arrested and charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood.

According to police the second arrest happened at the same location less than an hour later. Just before midnight a 63-year-old man was charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood. The charges were laid after an officer grew concerned with the man’s ability to operate his e-bike.

Police add that just after midnight a third driver was given a three day license suspension for having their blood alcohol in the “warn” range. Both drivers charged with over 80 mgs had their vehicles towed and impounded.
