Traffic stop leads to charges against two people

An OPP traffic stop resulted in charges being laid against two people.

Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP say their officers stopped a vehicle on County Road 42 in North Dundas Township. While investigating they learned a woman in the vehicle was violating legal conditions that had been placed on her from a previous incident. According to police the woman resisted when they tried to take her into custody.

During the course of the investigation officers say they also found marijuana and what they suspected to be methamphetamine on a male passenger. The 29-year-old woman from North Dundas is now facing charges of failing to comply with a probation order, resisting a peace officer, assault with intent to resist arrest, driving while under suspension and driving a motor vehicle without a valid permit. The 32-year-old North Dundas man was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The man was released with a future court date and the woman was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
