The OPP is warning motorists to be alert to the dangers of wildlife near the road at this time of year. There is more movement in the deer population in the fall, at dawn and dusk when it is particularly difficult to see. Be aware of deer crossing signage, and scan the ditch as you drive. Reduce your speed, and if you encounter a deer, do not swerve. Brake firmly and stay in your lane so you don’t lose control. If you are in a collision with a deer, contact the police.
