Girls Inc. golf tournament fundraiser results

A golf tournament held recently at the Prescott Golf Club has helped continue programs for girls in the Leeds-Grenville area.

On July 7th the 10th Annual Cogeco Golf Tournament for Girls Inc. was hosted at the Prescott Golf Club. Girls Inc. says 68 golfers were on hand for golf, poker games, a silent auction and many prizes. Through donations, bids and various ticket sales over $10,000 was raised to support female targeted projects in the Leeds-Grenville area. Each year Girls Inc. put on three signature events: this golf tournament, the TD Canada Trust Women’s Hockey Tournament and their Strong, Smart & Bold Women of the Year Celebration.

According to Girl’s Inc. they are a registered, charitable non-profit that does not receive government funding. They are dependent on event fundraising, grants, corporate sponsorships and donations to provide workshops at little to no cost like they do. Girls Inc. say they try to remove any barriers that might stop girls from being able to attend their programs. They do this by using full or partial subsidies, light registration requirements, and hosting their programs in-school and in various communities to limit the travelling participant’s caregivers will have to do.
