And the Bill Thake Memorial Award for Economic Leadership goes to….George Tackaberry. George Tackaberry has come a long way since he started out in the roadwork business with just two trucks and a loader. Former award recipient Glenn Allen made the presentation at the Economic Development Summit on Friday.
As committed as he is to the growth and success of his business, “The King of Hearts”, as he is sometimes called, also gives a great deal back to the community.
Tackaberry supports more than 250 schools, churches and community groups each year.
Also recognized as nominees were David Cybulski of Augusta Township with his community garden and Bob Besharah of North Grenville for his work on The Kemptville Live Music Festival.
