Catholic District School Board release 2017-2018 budget

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario has approved their budget for 2017-2018.

At a Tuesday meeting the school board’s Board of Trustees approved an operating budget of $175.5 million. Representatives from the school board say areas of spending were carefully reviewed for efficiency and to ensure excellent program delivery to students. Legislative grants account for $114.5 million of the budget, with another $20.62 million coming from local taxes. The final $6.7 million comes from sources like the tuitions fees from International and Personal Support Worker programs and grants including the Math Strategy and OYAP program.

The Board of Trustees also gave approval for the capital budget to be set at $18.3 million. $12.6 million of this budget will go towards the construction of a new Junior Kindergarten through grade 8 school in Smith Falls. The rest of the budget will be split between School Condition Improvement and School Renewal. School Conditional Improvement projects will see $2.9 million with School Renewal getting the budget’s remaining $1.9 million.
