Police in the area are warning residents that an old scam may be re-appearing.
Brockville Police say they were alerted to the scam on Friday. Victims said they received text messages stating their bank account had been temporarily suspended, from a number claiming to be bank corporate security. According to police the text message included a link to reactivate their account.
Police are reminding residents that bank personnel do not send security alerts via text message. They advise anyone receiving a message like this to contact your local bank directly to check on the status of your account.
Never give your banking or personal information to anyone you do not trust.
