The South Grenville District High School Relay for Life has more than doubled their initial fundraising goal.
The annual event, which raises money for the Canadian Cancer Society, took place on June 1st on the South Grenville District High School track. The fundraisers set their target amount at twenty thousand dollars but ended up collecting over forty thousand dollars when all of the donations had been tallied.
The money was raised by 25 teams consisting of around 300 people, most of who were on hand to walk the track from noon until midnight.
The top fundraiser is still unknown but the community’s effort lived up to theme of this year’s relay: superheroes.
