Rideau Canal opening delayed

The opening of the navigation season on the Rideau Canal has been delayed by a week.

Parks Canada says it has delayed the opening until Friday, May 26th. That’s due to safety reasons because of the high water levels and unsafe boating conditions.

While the navigation season is delayed, Parks Canada says you can still visit the lock stations on foot starting today. Lock staff will be on hand for anyone wanting to get a quick peek.

Parks Canada has also delayed the navigation season on the Trent-Severn Waterway.
