Following the 2014/2015 school year, the Upper Canada District School Board is in the black. In fact, audited financial statements approved by trustees Wednesday night show a $1 million dollar improvement over the original budget.
Board Finance Controller Carole McKewen says this is the direct result of a focus on fiscal responsibility while maintaining student learning as a priority.
Board Chair Jeff McMillan says he is pleased to see what they have accomplished in a year. He adds it is important to remember this is the first step in aligning expenses with funding received from the Ministry and eliminating the accumulated deficit.
