Today the OPP will officially dedicate the bridge on the 401 at Highway 31 in memory of Constable Ronald Pitt, a member of the Morrisburg Police Force who died in the line of duty.
On August 24th, 1957, thirty-four-year-old Constable Pitt was approaching a stolen vehicle when he was shot by two young men. Pitt was formerly a member of the Glasgow Police force in Britain. He left behind a wife and two young sons.
Today’s dedication service happens at 11:00am at the Morrisburg branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
