The Fort Town Night Run is set to light up the streets of Prescott this spring.
The racing event is scheduled for Saturday May 6th, and will feature a five-kilometre and 10-kilometre run throughout the town, passing 40 historical landmarks on its way. Races would start at 8:00pm.
The run is a fundraiser for Scouts Canada and the Venturers here in Prescott.
Publicity Coordinator for the event, Julie Larose says the running scene in Prescott is growing, making this a great event for the town.
The event is also in conjunction with Canada 150 celebrations this year. Larose says they want the run to be a community event even for people who aren’t participating, as there will be a barbecue and live music at Fort Wellington after the race. They are also encouraging residents along the routes to get outside and cheer on runners as well.
The event already has backing from the local OPP service to help shut down roads during the race, but logistics are still being worked out with the Town of Prescott.
