Volunteers on Prescott’s Business Retention and Expansion team are set to hit the streets and start surveying businesses next week.
Program Coordinator Jaqueline Shoemaker-Holmes made a presentation at Committee of the Whole on Monday night identifying that 75 of the town’s 192 businesses would be surveyed on what it is like to do business in Prescott.
Shoemaker-Holmes says the program is designed to benefit Prescott 10 years down the road, which prompted Mayor Brett Todd to suggest that the town look into hiring an Economic Development Officer.
The BR+E team will work to keeping businesses here in town as statistics show that existing businesses create more jobs than new businesses. Shoemaker-Holmes says the town’s largest business sector is retail.
