If you’re planning to be away during the holiday season, there are a few things you can do minimize the risk of theft.
The OPP says you should avoid putting out boxes that advertise any new expensive items at the roadside. If you are recycling, crush up the boxes and avoid having them show out in the open.
Constable Cathy Lindsey says you should also have neighbours help you out.
Lindsey does recommend putting garbage out at the roads in bags and containers to help make it look like you’re still at home.
