The OPP is getting the word out about being safe with emails and attachments as Cyber Security Awareness Month continues. Police say some attachments can be harmful and some emails are also part of phishing scams. These scams can trick you into giving up your username and password by pretending to be a well-known site. The OPP says to watch out for attachments such as those with .exe extensions, as well as many others. Certain attachments like .jpg and .pdf should be safe, but only if you have the latest security patches. The OPP says to learn more, you can go to www.getcybersafe.gc.ca.
