The way parking fines are paid in Augusta Township is changing.
Township officials say as of Monday they are switching to the administrative monetary penalty system, a program they say provides an alternative to the provincial court system for managing parking tickets.
It was adopted in mid-September and there are three ways to pay fines; in person at the township office, by mail or by e-transfer.
They say the program is intended to make it easier to enforce township by-laws while providing a fair, consistent, and efficient process for resolving disputes.
Officials say AMPS helps reduce reliance on the provincial court system and provides a timely, accessible, and efficient alternative.
More information on the program can be found on the township’s website.
