Timothy Mackay says the current Prescott Town Council isn’t listening to the concerns of residents.
Mackay, who has lived and worked in Prescott for 53 years and has owned and operated Mackay Funeral Home for 28, is running for mayor against incumbent Gauri Shankar in the October municipal election.
Mackay says he decided to run for mayor after seeing what he calls “injustices” including the current council making decisions without the involvement of residents and then there being a lack of information over why those decisions were made.
He tells the Vista Radio Newsroom that he sees community involvement as one of the top issues.
“People are upset and I think we need to go back to a mayor and council that has more transparency, more fairness and compassion in their work.”
Mackay says he has been involved in various roles in the community including with the Kiwanis Club and the South Grenville Chamber of Commerce.
The deadline to run in the municipal election is 2 p.m. this Friday.
