Update: Police say death in Augusta Township now deemed a homicide

Grenville County OPP say the death of an individual in Augusta Township is now being investigated as a homicide.

Police say they went to residence on County Road 26 just before 3:30 p.m. on July 8 where one person was found dead.

They now say the death has been deemed a homicide.

Investigators say they believe this to be an isolated incident with no signs of a broader threat.

The Grenville County OPP Crime Unit is conducting the investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Assistance is being provided by the OPP’s Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team, Forensic Identification Services and the East Region Community Street Crime Unit.
