Edwardsburgh Cardinal company marking $120 million in growth and expansion

A local company is marking $120 million in growth and expansion.

HFI Pyrotechnics Inc., based in Edwardsburgh Cardinal, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday afternoon and say the expansion, funded through a combination of new contracts and
investment, is expanding the company’s infrastructure, production capacity, and technical capabilities.

Officials say the $120 million is the first phase of a five-year growth plan, with more to follow, and they add it brings new contracts, new infrastructure, and new research programs to the site.

The company says it has added 50 positions since November 2025 and expects to add more through the rest of this year as production grows.

Officials say that construction is underway across the site, including new buildings, access roads, and supporting infrastructure.

HFI Pyrotechnics Inc. designs and manufactures specialty military pyrotechnics, training simulators, and search-and-rescue marker devices.
