East Region OPP says joint enforcement initiatives highlight the strong partnerships between themselves, Canada Border Services Agency and the Ministry of Transportation.
As part of Operation Safe Driver Week, the three partners conducted a three-day commercial motor vehicle enforcement initiative at the Lansdowne port of entry from July 14 to 16.
They say commercial motor vehicles entering Canada through the Lansdowne crossing were inspected by OPP and MTO officers after being cleared by CBSA officers.
Police say 293 commercial motor vehicles were inspected, resulting in the detection of 23 out-of-service defects, four unsafe vehicles towed, and 44 provincial offence notices being issued for a variety of safety-related violations.
They add that the initiatives ensure commercial vehicles operating on Ontario roadways are safe, properly maintained and compliant with applicable legislation.
