Public meeting planned for Skyview 2 Battery Energy Storage Project site

The site of Canada’s largest battery storage project is the focus of an upcoming public meeting.

Edwardsburgh Cardinal Township is holding the meeting on May 4 and it will cover a zoning bylaw amendment application for lands municipally known as 114 Dobbie Road and 206 Dobbie Road.

Municipal officials say the zoning bylaw amendment application will change the current zoning of the Skyview 2 Battery Energy Storage Project area and its driveway which would prohibit residential development and recognize the reduced road frontage to 28 metres.

The meeting is being held in council chambers and it starts at 5:30 p.m.

The Skyview 2 Battery Energy Storage Project, which will provide 411 megawatts of battery storage to Ontario’s power grid, is a partnership between Potentia and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation.

It’s expected the site should be up and running by 2027.
