On Thursday, the Canada Award of Excellence Platinum Level will be presented to the Upper Canada District School Board for the cultivation and maintenance of a healthy workplace environment. Human Resources Manager (Special Services) Jane Smith says if you create a healthy workplace for teachers and school staff, there is a trickle-down effect for students.
Smith says the secret to their success is a comprehensive plan to cover all aspects of physical and psychological health for employees.
 Smith says the UCDSB has established programs that cover all aspects of physical and psychological health of employees, and they make their confidential services accessible to all.
The UCDSB have won the Silver and Gold level Award of Excellence in the past. This is the first time a school board has reached the Platinum Level.
