With all the snow we’ve received this winter, you’re being reminded to keep your natural gas meters and appliance vents clear of snow and ice.
Officials with Enbridge Gas say blocked vents can cause a dangerous buildup of odourless, deadly Carbon Monoxide gas inside homes.
They add heating reliability can also be impacted with snow-covered meters disrupting gas pressure.
Winter safety reminders include:
• Gently clear snow with a brush or broom
• Avoid sharp tools
• Don’t shovel, plow, or blow snow against your meter or vent
• Never kick your meter or vent to remove ice
Natural gas meters measure the volume of gas used by homes and businesses.
