Police: Traveling on a closed snowmobile trail is trespassing

Police are reminding snowmobile riders that traveling on a closed snowmobile trail is trespassing.

East Region OPP say that many trails contain section of private property, and when you ride on a closed trail, it could jeopardize a landowner’s permission for use.

They add that closed trails may also be unsafe, as hazards may not be snow-covered.

Before you head out this winter, you’re reminded to check the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs.

Their interactive trail map can be found on the OFSC website.

When you are able to ride, they say have fun, be safe and be respectful of other trail users.
