Residents will have a warm place to go to this winter season.
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville have announced the opening of a new warming centre on Friday, aiming to support unhoused people during the winter.
The centre will run seven-days-a-week from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., offering a low-barrier, safe indoor space for up to 40 people a night.
Included is access to food, potable water, washroom facilities, referrals to outreach services, Ontario Works, housing supports, and mental health and addictions services.
The counties said this centre will be in place until a new emergency shelter location opens this spring.
The centre is located at 55 Reynolds Drive.
