Prescott Council has passed the by-law that will raise their salaries. The vote came at Monday night’s special council meeting. The salaries will increase over time beginning tomorrow. The mayor will see the largest increase, from about $16,800 to just over $27,500, by January 1st, 2018. Councillors will go from $8,400 to just over $10,300 by January 1st, 2017. The mayor`s salary increase will match the salary for the mayor of Gananoque, which is still $10,000 below the county average. Both councillors and the mayor will see cost-of-living adjustments as well. The rates were set by a working group which included community representation.
