Women’s curling taking over Grenville County this weekend

Curling fever is set to take over Kemptville.

The Jonsson’s Independent Women’s Fall Classic starts on Thursday at the North Grenville Curling Club and runs until Sunday.

Organizers say 24 world-class women’s teams will be competing for $25,000 with the event being one of the biggest women’s only non-grand slam events in Canada.

Ten of the top 50 teams in the current World curling rankings will be participating.

North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford tells Moose FM that the event is another opportunity to show off our region.

“It offers an important venue, not just for Canadian teams, but for global teams, to come and compete in a fun but rigorous community event.”
