This is School Bus Safety Week and drivers are being reminded of the rules of the road.
Police say all drivers approaching in both directions must come to a complete stop when a school bus is stopped with its red overhead lights flashing and stop arm extended.
To help keep students safe, officers will be conducting increased patrols before and after school hours.
Drivers who fail to stop for a school bus will receive a Provincial Offences Notice for “Failing to Stop for a School Bus,” which carries a $490 fine and six demerit points upon conviction.
You’re reminded that your cooperation plays a vital role in keeping our roads, and our children, safe.
