Local business owners meet with MP Barrett and MPP Clark over breakfast

Local businesses want their questions on areas including hiring employees with intellectual disabilities, helping families find a local doctor and preparing for a climate emergency answered.

Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MP Michael Barrett and MPP Steve Clark provided answers on the topics, and others, during a business breakfast put on Monday morning by the North Grenville Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the South Grenville Chamber of Commerce and Community Futures Grenville.

It was held in Kemptville and featured both Clark and Barrett delivering remarks and fielding questions from those in attendance.

Barrett tells Moose FM that events like these help he and Clark keep a close eye on their riding.

“We’re able to find out what programs need enhancements, what programs frankly need to be created and maybe where we can reallocate resources from programs that just aren’t getting the job done.”

Clark tells Moose FM that there was a clear picture that was drawn at the event.

“We got more to do, and I think that’s the message I got on the skilled trades side and on some of the other in demand jobs like doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners. There’s still more work to do and I’m committed to getting it done.”

The two also talked about both levels of government’s response to U.S. President Donald Trump and his imposed tariffs.
