We are learning more details about a police manhunt in Maitland that resulted in the arrest of an wanted male.
Grenville County OPP Const. Dave Holmes tells Moose FM that police were called to a residence in the village on Thursday for an separate and unrelated matter.
While officers were there, police say the wanted suspect was seen running away from the residence which led a foot pursuit with additional resources then called in to help with the search.
Police say they learned the suspect may have been in possession of a weapon which prompted public advisory that was issued around 2 p.m. for residents to stay inside.
Holmes adds that the public played an important role in listening to the guidance from the police.
“With staying inside, staying away from the area, as well as calling in any information that they had regarding any sightings which did help police narrow down a search area.”
The suspect was arrested around 6 p.m. and police say there is no threat to the public in connection to the incident.
