The early steps are being taken one of the biggest projects in Prescott in years.
Council has awarded a contract for the detailed design and contract administration of the Prescott Wastewater Treatment Plant to J.L. Richards and Associates Limited for $2.825 million.
Prescott, Augusta Township and the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal have partnered together on the project and received just over $17 million from the province to expand the plant and J.L. Richards will now oversee the first phase.
Prescott Mayor Gauri Shankar tells Moose FM there were a few reasons why council made their decision.
“They can meet our deadlines and we have deadlines imposed by the government for our funding so that’s very, very important.”
Part of the project will see the upgrade and expansion of three existing sanitary pumping stations to accommodate the increased flow and capacity of the plant.
