The warm summer that we’ve been promised is almost here.
That’s according to Environment Canada Senior Climatologist Dave Phillips who says we didn’t see any consistent stretches of warm weather in May which also lacked a day where the high temperature reached thirty degrees, something we haven’t seen in around thirty years.
Phillips says this weeks weather, which has seen daytime highs in the upper twenties, is warmer than average and the beginning of what should play out over the next couple of months.
He tells Moose FM that we’ve also seen our share of rain unlike other parts of the country.
“Out west they’ve had too hot, too dry, too smoky, too long. Here, we are kind of anxiously waiting for summer like weather and your patience is going to be rewarded.”
As for the hazy sky created by smoke drifting from the western wildfires, Phillips says we’ll see some rain this week which will wash that away.
