Human trafficking awareness event being held later this month

A Prescott-based charity is working to shine a light on human trafficking and make the world a better place.

Beacon Bags was created in 2017 and makes what they call Go Bags, filled with essential items, that are given to front line services to provide to both male and female victims of human trafficking when they are rescued.

The group is holding a free information session on June 18 at Kemptville Campus where they say you can learn more about warning signs and what steps can be done to help deal with the issue.

Beacon Bags CEO Denise March tells Moose FM that our area is seeing an increase in human trafficking crimes.

“All of Ontario is a hub right now but eastern Ontario’s quite high because of the Highway 401 and Highway 416 corridor going up into Ottawa.”

The session runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and more information can be found on the Kemptville Campus website.
