MP Barrett reappointed Shadow Minister for Ethics and Accountable Government

Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MP Michael Barrett will remain in a familiar role in Ottawa.

Barrett has been reappointed as Shadow Minister for Ethics and Accountable Government by Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre following his reelection in the federal election.

Barrett says in a media release that “I’m proud of the work that we’ve been able to do to identify opportunities for real savings for Canadians, to identify areas where there has been misuse of Canadians’ tax dollars, and to seek accountability from the government to recover those public funds.”

Barrett says he’s also looking ahead to continuing his advocacy for economic policies that support key industries across the region, and securing funding for local priorities—building on past successes such as investments in County Road 43, the Alaine Chartrand Community Centre, the Port of Johnstown, Royal Canadian Legions, rural broadband internet, and support programs for youth and seniors.

“It’s an honour to continue the important work of representing our community, of being the voice of our community in the House of Commons, and working to secure affordability, safety, and the promise of a bright future for everyone,” said Barrett.
