OPP enhancing efforts when searching for missing children

The Ontario Provincial Police are partnering up with the Missing Children Society of Canada to help enhance efforts when locating missing children.

Provincial police made the announcement on Friday in recognition of Missing Children’s Day.

Police say they have adopted the society’s “rescu” (RESCUE) progressive web application, which allows the public to subscribe to Child Search Alerts via SMS messaging for cases in their area.

The app also provides an interactive map of missing children across the country.

If a child goes missing within an OPP jurisdiction, officers will publish details on the application, which then gets sent to subscribers in the defined search area.

The OPP is encouraging you to register for the alerts, and submit any tips that could help.
