More details have been released on an incident that investigators say involved a young boy struck by a vehicle in the driveway of an Oxford Station home.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit, who have invoked their mandate in the case, say an Ontario Provincial Police officer was on the property of a home around 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

They say the personal vehicle, operated by the officer, struck a 15-month-old boy in the driveway.

The child was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries and remains there in stable condition.

The SIU says four investigators, one forensic investigator and one collision reconstructionist have been assigned to the case with four witness officials and one subject official designated.

A subject official is described as an official whose conduct, in the SIU director’s opinion, may have caused the death, serious injury, firearm discharge or alleged sexual assault under investigation.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about the investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator.
