The wheels are in motion for another grocery store to open up shop in Prescott.
The town’s planning advisory committee has given the go-ahead on a plan that would see the former Home Hardware on Irvine Road torn down and replaced by a Food Basics.
Now, the process will continue with the plan coming to council and then going to staff for a final lookover before council votes on its final approval.
Prescott Mayor Gauri Shankar tells Moose FM that bringing a second grocery store to town is good news on a number of different fronts.
“It gives more of a competitive advantage to consumers. I (also) think it shows so much promise for our community.”
It’s expected that council will discuss the proposal at their meeting on Monday.
