Update: South Nation Conservation upgrades Flood Outlook Statement to Flood Watch

A Flood Outlook Statement for our are has now been upgraded to a Flood Watch.

South Nation Conservation says Environment Canada is forecasting warmer temperatures beginning Friday afternoon, followed by a daytime high of 16 degrees over the weekend.

That’s in addition to 10 to 15 millimeters of rain forecasted on Sunday afternoon into Monday.

Officials say the rain and snow melt will lead to increased water levels and flows in local streams and rivers.

While widespread flooding is not anticipated, fast flowing water and flooding of low-lying areas, floodplains, and areas with poor drainage is possible.

You’re advised to use extreme caution when near rivers and waterbodies due to increasing river flows and slippery conditions.
