Royal Canadian Mounted Police are increasing the measures they are taking to protect our borders with the United States.
Prescott Mayor Gauri Shankar says RCMP officials are visiting communities that are close to border crossings and making them more aware of what’s going on.
Shankar says the RCMP are working closely with other agencies to keep an eye on what’s going on.
“They’ve got boots on the ground and they’ll be able to access it quicker, they are in conjunction with the OPP so if anyone has any concerns they can contact the OPP and they’ll handle it.”
Shankar adds that police want residents who may notice something unusual going on to report it to them.
