Prescott’s Mayor says when life hands you lemons, sometimes you have to make lemon-aid.
Gauri Shankar’s comment comes as Canada Post is closing its office in Prescott outside of regular business hours following several mail boxes being pried open and damaged earlier this month.
That means those looking to pick up their mail outside of 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, as well as Friday, and until 6 p.m. on Thursday, are unable to do so.
Shankar says he’s reaching out to Canada Post to see what their plan is going forward and he adds that they are in talks with the Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police about stepping up their presence in the area to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
He adds that if you can’t pick up your mail when the office is open, it’s best to come up with an alternate plan.
“Have family or have friends go check for you during the day, that’s probably my best advice.”
The mailboxes that were damaged are in the process of being repaired.
