St.Lawrence Shakespeare Festival starts Saturday

Shakespeare is coming to Prescott for a visit.

The St.Lawrence Shakespeare Festival kicks off on Saturday at the Kinsman Ampitheatre with The Tempest then running until August 10th.

The second of three performances that make up this season, She Stoops to Conquer, runs from July 17th to August 10th and Play On, a Shakespeare Inspired Mixtape, runs from August 13th to the 17th.

Last December, Julia Nish-Lapidus and James Wallis were named the new Co-Artistic Directors of the festival after several seasons at the Stratford Festival.

Nish-Lapidus says they wanted to pick shows that were of interest for the entire family.

“That was imperative to us, we think that it’s so important that this be something you can bring your whole family to and there’s something in it for everyone.”

Youth under the age of 14 are able to attend the festival’s shows for free.

You can go to the festival’s website to learn more.
