The person who brought in the raccoon to the Brockville Animal Hospital last week identified themselves with the Health Unit after the request was made to track that resident down. The risk of rabies was already very low but the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit did want to discuss the situation with the resident to make sure there was no chance of transmission. The health unit reminds residents that you should keep children away from wild or stray animals and take precautions at all times.
