Water Safety Statement issued by South Nation Conservation

Water levels are expected to rise across the region this weekend.

South Nation Conservation has issued a Water Safety Statement, saying 20 to 40 millimetres of rain are expected over the course of Saturday and Sunday.

That isn’t expected to cause any major flooding, but staff say it is likely to cause some smaller waterways, like creeks and streams, to overflow.

If you live in a flood-prone area, they say you should take steps to protect yourself and your home.

That includes ensuring your sump pump works, securing anything that could float away during a flood, and having a backup pump and generator on standby.

The statement is in effect until March 14th.
